Claire HIria Dunning

Claire Hiria Dunning (née Ahuriri) (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Raukawa, Pākehā) is a non-binary (she/her/they/them/ia) multimedia award-winning author, game writer and playwright, writing fantastical and inclusive stories that matter for the young and young-at-heart. They are the recipient of an NZSA 2024 mentorship and were selected as one of six kaituhi for the Te Papa Tupu 2024 cohort. They discovered a love for playwriting under the tutelage of Kathryn Whillans at Glenfield College. Since then, they have written plays for schools and community theatre with an eye to catering for the needs of large groups of actors with diverse needs. You can learn more at hiriadunning.com.
