Jamie Cain

Jamie Cain is a writer, director and performer based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. He has a Masters in Creative Writing (Scriptwriting) from the International Institute of Modern Letters. He began playwriting in 2011 with Atonal Heart which he co-wrote with Michael Switzer and the play was selected to be part of the FUEL Festival the following year.

In 2016, he joined Red Scare Theatre Company where he works as Marketing Director alongside Artistic Director Cassandra Tse. Red Scare has staged premiere productions of his works. He has directed a number of Red Scare productions That's All She Wrote, Apocalypse Songs, MoodPorn and Under.

Jamie has been shortlisted for the Adam New Zealand Play award for Movers and Trojan Horse, and shortlisted for the Playwrights b4 25 award for Movers and M’Lady (co-written with Cassandra Tse) and shortlisted for Plays for the Young for his play Catclowder! A monologue from Movers was selected for the Playmarket publication 101 New Zealand Monologues for Youth.
